Children with Disabilities Resources

All children thrive in high-quality programs that recognize and support their individual strengths, interests, and needs.  A child can be eligible for special education services with a range of qualifying factors. Sometimes these factors significantly impact every developmental domain: children may have a hard time moving or talking, and they may have complex physical and medical needs. Other times, disabilities are not visible: difficulties with language, social and emotional challenges, and fine motor issues may be hard to detect.

Kindering

Kindering embraces children of diverse abilities and their families by providing the finest education and therapies to nurture hope, courage, and the skills to soar. Comprehensive developmental assessments at no cost to families for children ages birth to three that evaluate each child’s individual abilities and needs.  Speech and Language Therapy helps children develop and enhance their functional communication skills through spoken or sign language, picture exchange, and technology.

Diversity & Equity Resources

Diversity gives people a voice. Diversity empowers people to be expressive without feeling outnumbered. It allows us to raise a hand in disagreement with a majority of our peers while presenting the opportunity to see things from a different perspective. Diversity can alleviate pressure to follow the norm. A norm is a socially constructed concept which forces so many people to hide who they are so that they could blend in. Diversity matters in education because no one should have to feel embarrassed of who they are. Diversity gives people confidence and makes them proud to share who they are.

Teaching Tolerance

Teaching Tolerance provides free resources to educators—teachers, administrators, counselors and other practitioners—who work with children from kindergarten through high school. Educators use our materials to supplement the curriculum, to inform their practices, and to create civil and inclusive school communities where children are respected, valued and welcome participants.
